Fervour, gaiety mark Krishna Pushkaralu get off to grand start in Kurnool district

Joint collector had formally offered pooja at Sangameswaram ghat.

Anantapur: Krishna Pushkaralu opened with great fervour on Friday at Patalaganga and Sangameswaram in Kurnool district.

Srisailam pontiff Sri Chenna Sidda Ramaadya Chennabasaveswara Swamiji and Kurnool collector Ch.Vijayamohan, SP Ake Ravikrishna, Srisailam temple executive officer Narayan Bharath Gupta and others took part in the Pushkaralu at Patalaganga ghat after performing rituals on the Krishna river's banks.

Joint collector Hari Kiran had formally offered poojas at Sangameswaram ghat.
Priests offered abhisekham with Krishna river water for the deities, Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy, Goddess Bramarambhika and Sri Veerabhadra Swamy on the occasion.

A laser show on Srisailam’s history, organised at Pushkarnagar in Srisailam, attracted devotees.

The Tourism department has forbidden boating between Sangameswaram and Srisailam due to heavy flows into the Krishna river.

This was a tourist attraction that the Kurnool collector had planned to introduce between the two temples, but the Sangameswaram and Patalaganga ghats are too crowded currently with Krishna Pushkaralu in progress.

A senior official from the Tourism department told the Kurnool collector that boats could be operated to Srisailam, but the return journey was not safe due to the force of the water from the opposite side.

“The boating plan has therefore been postponed temporarily due to fear of mishaps during the holy Pushkaralu,” he said.
