George, Prasad harassed my father: Karnataka DySP's son Nehal

Home Minister K.J. George and police officer A.M. Prasad used to harass his father and this led to his demise, said Nehal.

Mysuru: Nehal Ganapati (19), son of DySP M.K. Ganapati, who committed suicide, has alleged that former Home Minister K.J. George and police officer A.M. Prasad used to harass his father and this led to his demise.

He has made the allegation in his complaint filed in the court of Principal Judicial Magistrate (first class) at Madikeri, through his counsel Amrit Somaiah P.N.

He also alleged that though he had approached the SI in Kushalnagar police station with a written complaint, it was rejected and he also produced a copy of the complaint and the endorsement of refusal.

“The accused are highly placed and influential people and have prevailed upon the police from taking action against them using the power conferred by their office. As a result the jurisdictional police have not taken any action. So I am now without any remedy. Hence the complaint,” Nehal stated.

In the complaint copy, he also stated that before taking the extreme step, his father stated in a TV interview that George, Mohanty and Prasad were responsible for his death. The trio used to harass him, he stated.
He has also submitted a copy of a complaint filed by his mother Pavana.

Bandh tomorrow: The Hindu Jagarana Vedike has announced a dawn to dusk bandh in Kodagu on Thuraday in protest against refusal by Kushalnagar police to file a complaint. They condemned the police for taking a signature of Ganapati’s father on the copy of the complaint written by them.

PIL wants police to file FIR
With the state police yet to register an FIR into the suicide of DySP M.K. Ganapati, a city-based advocate and others filed a PIL at the high court on Tuesday.

The petition seeks directions to the police to register an FIR and take necessary action. The petition, filed by advocate Ranganath Reddy, states that not registering a FIR is contrary to the guidelines of the Constitution bench of the Supreme Court in Lalilathakumari case.

The PIL also wanted the home ministry to take action by directing to register an FIR, along with suitable action like expelling minister K. J. George and suspending the two IPS officers, who were named by Ganapati.
