Telangana will sizzle for three days, warns Met department

Mercury levels likely to rise up to 45ºC.

Hyderabad: The Met department has warned that heat wave conditions will prevail over Hyderabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Ranga Reddy, Khammam and Nalgonda districts of Telangana from April 13 to 16. There’s also a dry weather warning.

Most places in the state are likely to record maximum temperatures between 40ºC and 45ºC in the coming days. On Tuesday, Hyderabad recorded a maximum of 41.8ºC, the highest so far this month. Nalgonda and Ramagundam districts recorded 44ºC on Tuesday.

IMD assistant meteorologist, Hyderabad, M. Narsimha Rao said, “Severe heat wave conditions are forecast for TS. Apart from the six districts mentioned, other areas too are reporting maximum temperatures close to 40ºC.

Any area that experiences 2ºC-5ºC above the normal maximum temperature is declared as heat wave-affected. Heat wave means the place should record 40ºC and above, and dry weather conditions should prevail.”

“There’s, however, no heat wave condition for AP. In fact, very light to moderate rain is expected in Costal Andhra Pradesh.” The seven-day forecast for the city states that the maximum temperature from April 13 to 16 will be around 42ºC-43ºC, while the minimum temperature will be around 26ºC. There might be thunderstorms after April 17, along with partly cloudy skies with moderate rain, hailstorm or lightning.
