Rama Rao, the minister for urban development, was holding a meeting with various civic bodies.

Hyderabad: Minister Mr. K. T Rama Rao has directed the GHMC to strictly enforce the Defacement of Property Act, in the city. Hundreds of walls have been defaced by posters and drawings and need immediate attention from civic officials. All these walls need to be painted, the minister said. The GHMC had launched a special drive against the defacement of public and private properties from January 1.

Mr Rama Rao, the minister for urban development, was holding a meeting with various civic bodies. He told the GHMC to focus on the city’s sanitation and to put a stop on the damaging on walls.

The minister also took up the issue of white-topping of roads. He told the GHMC that financial assistance will be provided by the state government and directed the corporation to identify roads that need to be white-topped immediately. White-topping is the placement of cement concrete overlays on existing concrete pavement. It can be used as a surface correction procedure, when other materials have failed. White-topping of roads has been carried out at Habsiguda and Sindhi colony — and behind the Paradise Hotel.
