Bengaluru: School land for 39 communities

Allocating 72 acres of land to over 39 caste-communities at Machohalli in Dasanapura Hobli in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru: By allocating 72 acres of land to over 39 caste-communities at Machohalli in Dasanapura Hobli in Bengaluru, the state government appears to have blown the bugle for the 2018 Assembly elections.

Besides, the Cabinet has also approved a proposal to earmark Rs 12500 crore towards power subsidy for IP sets, Bhagyajyoti and Kutirajyoti schemes.

The move will also circumvent the election code of conduct, as it is a routine administrative decision. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr T.B. Jayachandra said that there were some more applications pending, which would come up in future cabinet meetings.

Interestingly, this land has been declared as Reserve Forest and the Forest Department has filed objection to utilise the land for developmental work, saying that the land has always been reserve forest and was never declared kharab gomal.

The applications were pending for long time and the government identified 96.12 acres of kharab gomal government land at Machohalli in Dasarahalli hobli. While 19.20 acres would be used for public purpose like village development, fire station, government hospital and government school, the rest would be allotted to various applicants, who have shown interest to start schools. The beneficiaries include Kuruba Sangha, Kaginele Peeta, Arya Idiga, Vishwakarma, Kuruhina Shetty, Padmasali, Madivala, Valmiki, Ganiga, and the Federation of Backward Communities among others.
