Welfare of people top priority for TRS govt, says K Chandrasekhar Rao

After the formation of Telangana state, I took a bold decision to create 21 districts out of the old 10 districts, says KCR.

Hyderabad: Laying of foundation stones for the construction of administrative complexes in the new district headquarters marked the first anniversary of their formation on Wednesday.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao laid the foundation stone for construction of the collectorate and police commissionerate buildings in Siddipet and Sircilla, while ministers launched the works in other districts.

“Except undivided AP and West Bengal, all other states had reorganised old districts with an aim to bring administration closer to people. When I was in the TD, I had personally requested N.T. Rama Rao to create Siddipet district in 1980s, but it did not materialise,” Mr Rao said in Siddipet.

“After the formation of Telangana state, I took a bold decision to create 21 districts out of the old 10 districts, which no one dared to do so all these years. The new districts started yielding results within a year with better administration and delivery of services for people,” he said.

He said TS was leading the country with highest revenue growth of nearly 22 per cent and this was possible only because of separation from AP.

Mr Rao heaped praises on minister T. Harish Rao, who represents Siddipet in the Assembly, for his hard work and commitment for the overall development of district. He showered a slew of sops on Siddipet.

Mr Rao said the welfare of people remained the utmost priority for TRS government and for this reason the government was spending nearly Rs 40,000 crore per year on welfare schemes.

In Sircilla, Mr Rao said the town was once severely drought-affected, but the TRS government was taking steps to mitigate drought through irrigation projects.
