Chennai: The Tamil Nadu physical education and sports university in Chennai on Saturday got its first woman Vice-Chancellor. Governor Banwarilal Purohit and the chancellor of the university appointed Dr Sheila Stephen as vice-chancellor for a period of three years.
Dr Sheila is a decorated academician with over 70 research publications to her credit along with over 14 overseas academic collaboration are universities such as Oxford, and Institute of Sport and Exercise science, Worcester University.
She has carried out a major research project leading to some significant findings on 'efficacy of integrated development program of movement therapy on physical, behavioral cognitive and perceptual motor domains of intellectually disabled children' and an international research project on 'quality physical education programme'.
