Netas' visit gives area facelift

Family of Sharath stays on Shyam Karan Road.

Hyderabad: The residents along Shyam Karan Road in Ameerpet were in for a surprise over the weekend. Officials suddenly took action on their long-pending complaints about school buses being parked on the roadsides and garbage strewn everywhere.

The ostensible reason for the action was the arrival of ministers and top officials to the residence of Sarath Koppu’s parents, who stay in the area.

“Officials took some action at certain times not not on this scale,” said Mr Satyanarayan Guntur, a resident of Ganesh Mansion on Shyam Karan Road.
The residents had earlier met minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav with their complaints. “We also approached corporator Seshu Kumari and she helped us but not much could be done,” Mr Satyanarayan said.

Mr Satyanarayan told this newspaper that politicains who went to the Koppu house on Sunday saw the conditions for themselves. This may have made officials take action, he said.

Local resident Sharda Raj asked why sweepers were not clean the roads every day, leaving the payments dirty. “But now, it is all clean and no one is parking their cars and school buses after politicians started visiting the area two days ago.”

Police vehicles pass through this stretch every day but ignore the illegally parked vehicles and the eatery that is being run on the street, said another resident, Ms Sijatha. Asked if the sudden was due to the arrival of ministers, she said, “Maybe.” She pointed out that the area was cleaned up on Sunday.

Mr Srinivas Yadav assured the residents that six CCTV cameras would be installed on the road. Besides, Saplings would be planted on the pavements, and assured that officials would personally check the progress of work.

Sharath’s body to arrive in city
