Hyderabad: The police has filed a petition in the VIII Metropolitan Magistrate Court seeking permission to collect DNA samples from Sania, the daughter of Congo national Cynthia and Rupesh. She was handed over to the Child Welfare Committee of Ranga Reddy district. The court also gave permission to the family of Cynthia and Rupesh to visit the child.
The investigation has been transferred to CCS Madhapur. On Monday, Madhapur CCS filed a petition in the VIII Metropolitan Magistrate Court seeking permission to collect samples from Sania and Cynthia’s body preserved at Osmania GH for DNA typing. “DNA typing is required to strengthen the prosecution case as Cynthia’s body was charred beyond recognition. The police is not leaving anything to chance. All evidences are being collected to strengthen the case,” CCS inspector Harishch-andra Reddy said.
Meanwhile, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) officials said they have received the orders, but has allowed Sania to stay at the Kasturba Ashram till a decision is taken on her stay with the CWC. Congo embassy officials approached CWC seeking Sania’s custody. “We have to talk to the child first and then to both the families and take a decision. Since the issue has international ramifications we don’t want to hurry,” Rangareddy CWC chairperson A. Venkates-warlu said.
Meanwhile, Mr Kumar Yadav, the counsel of Sania’s paternal grandmother Leela Devi said the CWC should take an early decision on her custody depending on her wish. “There are many legal processes involved as Sania is a Congo citizen,” he said. “The child’s condition is now sad as she has practically lost both parents. The CWC should take a decision soon. We will file a petition in court for the same," Mr Kumar Yadav added.
Police seeks 3-day custody of Rupesh: The Cyberabad police has sought the custody of Rupesh Kumar, who allegedly murdered his Congolese wife Cynthia, for further probe. The CCS Madhapur has sought three days custody of the suspect.
Official sources said the police will check if he got any help from others to carry out the murder and dispose the body. They are also probing if Rupesh had planned the murder. “We need at least three days custody to find out the missing links," said a CCS official. The RR district court will hear the plea on Tuesday. Rupesh killed his wife, cut her body into many parts and tried to burn it in a village in Shamshabad. Shamshabad police transferred the case to CCS police Madhapur as the murder occurred in Hi-tech City.
