Easterlies to bring down Chennai temperature

As the air circulation is expected to bring in easterlies along TN coast, Chennaiites may have some respite from the sweltering heat.

Chennai: With change in wind patterns and shift of upper air cyclonic circulations into Arabian Sea, western interior districts and southern parts of Tamil Nadu are expected to witness a thunderstorm.

As the air circulation is expected to bring in easterlies along TN coast, Chennaiites may have some respite from the sweltering heat. As the rainfall shifts to western districts including Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Erode, Madurai, Krishnagiri, Thiruvannamalai, Tiruchy and Karur, the wind patterns are expected to pull in rains from the east and keep the maximum and minimum temperatures around 37 degree Celsius and 28 degree Celsius in Chennai, said S. Balachandran, director, Regional meteorological centre.

Indicating light to moderate rain or thundershower in southern districts of Tamil Nadu, weather blogger Pradeep John says that Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, Dindigul and Tiruchi received good rainfall. The cloudy evenings and drop in temperature during the day in the city owes to easterlies that keep the sky condition partly cloudy, he adds.
