Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project at full speed

The government will pay Rs 300 crore to the forest department in February itself and commence the second phase of the project.

Khammam: The first phase of Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project is going at full speed and the environmental, wildlife and forest clearances have been obtained for the second phase.

The government will pay Rs 300 crore to the forest department in February itself and commence the second phase of the project. The farmers of Bhadradri-Kothagudem and Khammam districts will get Godavari water soon from Sitarama Lift Irrigaiton Project.

“Khammam will become the food grain bowl of Telangana with the Project” said Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao, who laid the foundation stone of the Korlagudem checkdam lift irrigation scheme on Padamathivagu, a rivulet in Kallur mandal.

The cost of the project is Rs 4.5 crore. Harish Rao said that the government sanctioned Rs 8000 crore to the Sitrama Lift Irrigation Project and 9.70 lakh acre in two districts will be irrigated with it.
