CM Oommen Chandy, K Muraleedharan take on VS Achuthanandan over his Assembly barbs

Mr Achuthanandan was targeting Mr Muraleedharan in view of the latter's remarks against him.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader V.S. Achuthanandan on Thursday faced tit for tat from Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, and Congress leader K. Muraleedharan for his comments against them in the Assembly earlier.

In reply to Mr. Achuthanandan's remark the other day that he felt ashamed to be an Opposition Leader in a House led by Mr. Chandy, the CM said that he felt proud to have worked with Mr. Achuthanandan as he could now work with any other leader.

"Achuthanandan would be feeling ashamed to work with me. But I feel proud to have worked with Achuthanandan. I could now work with any one else," Mr. Chandy said during the discussions on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address.

Earlier, Mr Achuthanandan continued his attack on Mr K. Muraleedharan maintaining that the latter would have been whiplashed by his father and former chief minister K. Karunakaran for supporting Mr. Chandy.

Making an indirect reference to Mr Achuthanandan's 'kinginikuttan' comment about him on Wednesday, Mr Muraleedharan asked him not to give a cap that suits his son V.A. Arunkumar to the MLAs.

While the ruling front MLAs objected to the personal remarks of Mr Achuthanandan, Opposition MLAs countered it stating that personal remarks were made by the ruling front MLAs against many LDF MLAs also on earlier occasions.
