Hyderabad: CBSE Class X, XII exam dates make students glum

Humanities students who chose mathematics to prepare for civil services, are a worried lot as both exams are scheduled on consecutive days.

HYDERABAD: Interdisciplinary choices are proving to be costly for Class XII students with the CBSE eaxm date sheet, announced on Wednesday, giving them less time. Humanities students who chose mathematics to prepare for civil services, are a worried lot as both exams are scheduled on consecutive days.

While History exam would be held on March 20, Mathematics is on March 21. Humanities student Shazmi Madin said, “Most of the subjects are theory-oriented and Mathematics is completely different. It would be nice to have a gap between the two as both require extensive revision.” Mathematics students, who opted for Computer Science are also having complaints — Mathematics is scheduled for March 21 while Computer Science is on March 23.

Teacher Keerthi Rao said, “A break between the exams does not ensure that students learn more than what they have throughout the year. It is just to relax.

Their minds will feel well rested and a day’s revision will help them retain better.”
Students who opted for Science have only a day’s gap after English for Physics.

Social media was flooded with tweets of students asking for a ‘stress-free’ time table with humanities students topping the list.

Malavika Ravi, a student, said, “We have three theory exams back to back without gap. After that we have one day before another main exam. It is so stressful to even think about it.”

Students who have set their eyes on premier engineering institutions would also face hurdles as those who have selected Physical Education would have their exam on April 9, a day after the JEE on April 8. While many students have asked school authorities to approach the board for a revised schedule, principals said that students have to accept it the way it is.
