Chandrababu Naidu's lunch diplomacy to expose Centre's negligence

The BJP government has denied AP special category status and did not fill the fiscal deficit, a senior TD leader said.

Vijayawada: AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would be using lunch diplomacy to highlight the BJP-led NDA government’s alleged negligence towards Andhra Pradesh.

According to top sources in the TD, Mr Naidu will host a lunch to leaders of political parties in the last week of the year, probably on December 23, in Amaravati to which he will invite AICC president Rahul Gandhi and regional leaders like Ms Mamta Banerjee, Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy, Mr Sharad Pawar, Mr Akhilesh Yadav, Mr Farooq Abdullah, Mr Tejaswi Yadav and others will take part.

The lunch will be followed by a public meeting at Amaravati which will be the last of the Dharma Porata series where Mr Naidu has been telling the people who AP has been poorly treated by the Centre. It is learnt that Mr Rahul Gandhi had confirmed his presence at the meeting.

“This will be another opportunity to show the unity among the anti-BJP parties and to expose the indifferent attitude the Centre has been showing towards the state. The BJP government has denied AP special category status and did not fill the fiscal deficit,” a senior TD leader said.

“There is no port at Dugarajapatnam, no railway zone, no steel plant in Kadapa, funds for backward districts are not being released, no funds have been given for the construction of the new capital. The BJP has betrayed Andhra Pradesh on all fronts. At this juncture we need the support of all the parties,” the leader said.
