Visakhapatnam: Sailors told to contribute effectively through study

The conference was inaugurated by Vice-Admiral H.C.S. Bisht, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, ENC.

Visakhapatnam: In a new initiative to support them and provide a forum to channelise the experience and knowledge of the senior most sailors of Indian Navy, the Master Chief Petty Officers (MCPOs), Eastern Naval Command, on Tuesday held a maiden MCPOs Conference at Swarna Jyoti Auditorium in the city.

The conference was inaugurated by Vice-Admiral H.C.S. Bisht, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, ENC. The first ever conference of Senior Sailors with rich expertise and experience was aimed at participative management, with analysis and views exchanged in professional and frank manner.

The conference co-ordinated by the MCPOs covered all naval operations, HR issues, technical and administrative challenges, maintenance philosophies and harnessing information technology. A total of 60 MCPOs from frontline operations units as well as support and maintenance establishments in Visakhapatnam, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal participated in the conference as delegates.

In the inaugural address, Vice-Admiral Bisht emphasised the need to empower at all levels, including intellectual empowerment. He urged the participants to contribute effectively through objective analysis and discussions.

Vice-Admin Atul Kumar Jain delivered the concluding address and handed over mementoes to the MCPOs who have presented their research papers during the conference.
