Flyover tenders in 20 days: Chandrababu Naidu

Naidu also reviewed 4 proposals for sports complex.

Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu pitched for creating right eco-system to attract industry for the overall growth of Vizag. Talking to reporters here on Monday after reviewing various developmental works related to Vizag with the district officials, Mr Naidu said tenders for the proposed flyover at NAD Kotha Road junction will be called within 15-20 days after putting the two designs, shortlisted by Vuda, in the public domain for feedback.

“To attract industry we need to create right eco-system in Vizag for which international schools and universities should come here. Tourist spots should also be developed for which we have taken up various initiatives. International hotel groups should also be invited to Vizag. International tourism festivals should also come to Vizag,” he said. The Chief Minister said in the meeting he had reviewed around four proposals to develop an integrated sports complex with international standards. He said these designs will have 25 lakh sft, 14 lakh sft, 11 lakh sft and 15 lakh sft space respectively of which one would be finalised.

He also said that 400 acres of land in Kambalakonda, abutting national highway will be developed into an eco-tourism park without disturbing the ecology. Regarding the proposed International Convention Centre, the Chief Minister said that APIIC had identified its land near Harbour Park area to develop such a facility for which the government will also seek a private land.

“The government will request private persons to give their property abutting the APIIC land. A world-class seafront convention centre can be developed in 13 acres, if the private party also gives its land. A hotel, shopping arena can also be developed on that land. We will give alternative land if the private person hands over the land to the government or else we can also make him the partner in the venture in PPP mode in a transparent manner,” Mr Naidu said. He also said that eight new beaches will be developed in the district. Lambasingi and Daallapalli in Vizag Agency will be developed as tourist destinations.
