Bengaluru: Gayatri in hot water over caste papers

Ms Gayatri had contested the BBMP polls as an independent.

Bengaluru: KP Agrahara corporator M. Gayatri is likely to lose her BBMP Council membership as the Deputy Commissioner (Bengaluru Urban) has ruled that the caste certificate submitted by her during elections was fake. Ms Gayatri had contested the BBMP polls as an independent.

Following a complaint that she had submitted a fake caste certificate, a committee conducted a detailed probe and submitted a report to Bengaluru Urban DC B.M. Vijay Shankar.

Ms Gayatri had submitted the caste certificate stating that she belonged to Nayak community and also a school certificate to prove that she had studied from Class 1 to 5 at Siddalingeshwara Educational Institution.

The probe committee found out that she had not studied till the fifth standard, and the school authorities, to favour her, had issued a transfer certificate (TC) stating that she had completed fifth standard.

After the report was submitted to him, the DC directed officials to take stern action against the school for giving a fake document and also rejected her caste certificate.
