Kinaloor estate land registration stopped

Controversy arose as 25 acres of land was sold to private persons.

KOZHIKODE: Kinaloor estate land registration has been put on halt for a while, as per the order of Seeram Sambasiva Rao, district collector. A controversy that 25 acres of the estate land was sold to private persons violating land rules led to the order. The order was as per the Kerala Law Reforms Act, section 120 A, which guarantees decision making power to the collector if violated.

Controversy arose as 25 acres of land was sold to private persons. High Court division bench had already ordered that the Kinaloor estate land is surplus land and sale or handover of the land is illegal.

The verdict of the division bench was kept under carpet and the registration was done after filing a petition to single bench of High Court.

Apart from this a letter was received from the office of Advocate General ordering for the implementation of both single and division bench judgments at same time, following which the District collector ordered to curb land registration temporarily.
