Bar Council of India test papers found on road in Kalamassery

The examination was to take place on Sunday but it was postponed to another date in Kerala on Thursday in the wake of the Nipah virus outbreak.

KOCHI: The Kalamassery police have launched an investigation after recovering a bunch of question papers of the Bar Council of India enrolment qualifying examination named All India Bar Examination from the wayside at Changampuzha Nagar in Kalamassery on Saturday. The examination was to take place on Sunday but it was postponed to another date in Kerala on Thursday in the wake of the Nipah virus outbreak.

"We suspect that those who were in possession of the question papers may have abandoned them after mutilating them since they felt of no use of them. We are looking into all angles and will contact the Bar Council of India officials on Monday after which the investigation will take its course," said Kalamassery Circle Inspector S Jayakrishnan. A Bar Council of Kerala official said that they are not related to the examination.

"It is being conducted by a private agency authorised by the Bar Council of India ," he said. Bar Council of India member T S Ajith said that Bar Council of Indiaalso is not involved in the conduct of the examination. "We have authorised it to a private agency and I am yet to get any official information about the incident," he said. There are indications that the officials of the private agency who arrived in Kochi for conducting the examination and got the intimation of postponement after that, may have abandoned the question papers.
