Guntur youth ends life in Kolkata

The SI came to Uppalapadu village and informed about the tragic incident to Phanindra's parents Anjamma and Venkateswara Rao.

Amaravati: A budding cricketer of Guntur district committed suicide by hanging in a private cricket academy at Kolkata. According to reports, S. Phanindra, 23, belonging to Uappalapadu village in Veldurthi mandal of Guntur district was getting trained in cricket at Kolkata in a private cricket academy.

The Kolkata police informed Veldurthi police station sub-inspector M. Ravikrishna about the suicide of Phanindra in his room in the academy. The SI came to Uppalapadu village and informed about the tragic incident to Phanindra’s parents Anjamma and Venkateswara Rao.

The parents said that Phanindra studied B.Com in JKC College at Guntur. He was very much interested in playing cricket and get training in Guntur. He went to Kolkata to get training in cricket and played cricket in several tournaments representing the academy. The parents said that Phanindra played in a cricket tournament at Ranchi in Jharkhand and returned to Kolkata on June 7.

They recalled that they spoke to Phanindra two days ago. They had high hopes that Phanindra would become a good cricketer but sadly he committed suicide. They said they dont know about the reason behind the suicide. Efforts are being made to brig back the body.
