Nellore: Additional infrastructure would be provided at the industrial clusters coming up in the industrial parks near Naidupeta and Attivaram in Ogili mandal of SPSR Nellore district, as part of Yerpedu - Srikalahasthi node under Visakapatnam - Chennai Industrial Corridor and Rs 498.28 crore has been earmarked for it.
Components proposed under the project include internal road network, storm drains, power transmission and communication lines, besides internal water distribution pipelines. The internal infrastructure and facilities will not only provide enhanced services to the existing manufacturing units but are also expected to attract several new units to these areas giving boost to employment opportunities to the locals.
The Naidupeta cluster in the southern part of the state consists of a multi-product SEZ (2,549 acres), Naidupeta Industrial Park (1,244 acres) and Attivaram Industrial Park (406 acres). Many investors evinced interest in these areas and 14 units already started production at Attivaram. According to AP Industrial Infrastruc-ture Corporation officials, Rs 179.51 crore has been allotted only for infrastructure and tenders have been floated for the works proposed under the project. A bulk water system to convey the allocated 0.29 thousand million cubic feet water from Telugu Ganga Canal (at 21 km), is being taken up as a sub-project. The scope of work would include intake pumps, pumping mains and summer storage facility.
This is in addition to an over bridge proposed from the national highway to connect it with the Special Economic Zone in Menakuru near Naidupeta. Zonal manager of APIIC K. Venkateswar Rao said they have identified 15,976 acres in 7 villages of Kota and Chillakur mandals for procurement under Chennai - Bangalore Industrial Corridor (CBIC).
APIIC sought Rs 928.23 crore to secure 4,279.04 acres of patta land and '357 cr for the government land, including assigned lands. The ZM said they have posted survey teams to fix the coordinates for easy identification of the land being procured for CBIC.
