APCRDA to demolish illegal structures in Guntur district

Construction expert A. Saiprasad said that 6 or 7 floors buildings should not be constructed in small plots, mainly in the Amaravati.

Guntur: Removal of illegal structures was sought in Amaravati zone. The APCRDA has identified 300 unauthorised structures in Guntur and Krishna districts and 150 unauthorised structures in the new capital Amaravati villages.

The public are worried over the construction of multi-storied buildings in small plots. After the collapse of unauthorised six-storied building in Nanakramguda, the public are fearing about the unauthorised multi-storied structures and seeking stern action against the illegal structures for the safety of the people.

The APCRDA started a special drive against illegal structures under which it demolished several illegal structures. The officials are stating that new capital Amara-vati was following international standards. So, the APCRDA is not allowing local village panchayats to issue building permission and warned about continuation of the drive against unauthorised structures.

The unavailability of proper plots is forcing the public to construct multi-storied buildings in the small plots in Vijayawada and Guntur cities and other towns. The public are living on the hills of Vijayawada city, Tade-palli and Mangalagiri areas of Amaravati.

Promoter S.N. Nagesh said that the land rates went to crores after anno-uncing of Amaravati as the capital and shifting of the AP government is creating huge demand for houses. So, the public are giving preference to the multi-storied floors as they will get income thro-ugh rents. He said that the officials will demolish the illegal structures after completion of construction which is totally wrong and sought stopping of the construction in the beginning stage by implementing rules strictly.

Construction expert A. Saiprasad said that 6 or 7 floors buildings should not be constructed in small plots, mainly in the Amaravati capital region due to its loose soil. He said that the government should give permission to buildings on the nature and quality of the soil and should not promote Building Penalisation Scheme to restrain building collapse incidents.

APCRDA commissioner Ch. Sreedhar said that the village panchayats cannot give permission to the buildings in the Amara-vati capital region or zone. So, the APCRDA conducted awareness programmes in the capital villages. He said that a special drive was started under which illegal structures in Vijayawada, Mangalagiri, Tadepalli, Sattenapalli, Nandigama and other areas were demolished.
