Thiruvananthapuram: The career guidance and adolescent counselling cell of the department of higher secondary education has selected ‘Photography and post-production’ as special area of intervention as part of the students initiative for training in artistic rejuvenation (SITAR) this year. This is a custom-designed training programme offering career guidance to higher secondary students.

A special programme named ‘Picturesque’ will explore the opportunities of career options in ‘Photography and post production’ and help develop aptitude and interest among students. Talented students will be provided opportunity to meet the maestros in the field and visit national-level institutes in photography. A six-day residential state-level camp for the selected students will be held at National Institute of Fashion Te-chnology, Dharmashala Kannur, from November 12 to 17, sources said.

During the previous years, students were given training in drama, film, design, journalism and mass communication, fashion design and animation under SITAR programme. This gave exposure to students on numerous courses and job opportunities available in these fields, sources said.

Recently, the counselling cell had introduced online Kerala Differential Aptitude Test (K-DAT), a free aptitude test for students in 87 schools to help them choose the courses according to their aptitude.
