Kochi: 400 applications pending in corporation

Kochi corp to hold adalath on July 15.

KOCHI: The file adalath the Kochi corporation has undertaken in the wake of the suicide of an NRI business man in Anthur in Kannur district has discovered that there are nearly 400 applications for building permit and occupancy certificates are pending with it.

"Despite having such big number of pending files, the civic body has received only 10 applications for the file adalth, scheduled for Monday," top corporation sources said. "The adalath will be chaired by minister for local self government A.C. Moideen. Though details of the adalath have been published through dailies, the local body received poor response." The aim of the adalath is to clear pending files of building permit and occupancy certificates on July 15. Applications can be submitted at the main office or zonal offices till Wednesday evening.

The civic body is unable to assess the actual number of pending files as the details of online applications cannot be retrieved due to issues in the software.

The city residents should make use of the opportunity as issues regarding unwarranted delays will be solved and the applications will be settled, official said.

Mayor Soumini Jain, deputy mayor T.J Vinod, additional chief secretary, officials and people's representatives will also attend the adalath.

Meanwhile, based on the mayor's request, the LSGD minister has permitted the civic administration to clear files of building permits and occupancy manually until the issues in software are resolved.
