Noyyal effluents to be diverted into sewage treatment plant

Chennai: The effluents being released into the Noyyal River in Tirupur must be diverted to a sewage treatement plant, said CM Eddapadi K. Palaniswami, on Monday invoking the 110 rule statement.

“A plan has been made to divert the effluents and lead it to a sewage treatment plant,” Palaniswami, said, adding that a detailed project report would be framed and the work for it would start soon. “Around Rs 150 crore has been allotted for this project,” he said.

The Noyyal river, which originates in the Western Ghats near Coimbatore flows through Tirupur district where it is polluted by sewage from residential areas and also industrial effluents, the CM added.
