She was too late: ADGP Sreelekha

Ms Sreelekha said she had instructed her subordinate, IG-Intelligence, to look into the case and the probe was on.

Thiruvananthapuram: ADGP (Intelligence) S. Sreelekha told Deccan Chronicle that she was alerted about the missing case on June 18, days after taking over as Intelligence chief. “Ms Bindu had not registered a written complaint,” Ms Sreelekha said. “However, she told about her daughter’s marriage and subsequent missing. She had not hinted that her son-in-law had links with fundamentalist groups. To console her, I had told that the couple might be travelling abroad and hence might be busy during holy month.”

Ms Sreelekha said she had instructed her subordinate, IG-Intelligence, to look into the case and the probe was on. “We could have tracked them at airports if informed earlier but Ms Bindu came to us too late,” she said. The mobile number used by Fathima was activated in Kerala, she said.
