Kasaragod: Parents disown sons for IS links

Dr Ijas had worked with a government hospital near Vadakara and is quite in nature.

Kasaragod: Abdurahman of Padanna is shock personified. His two sons and their wives are suspected to have joined the IS and the ailing man cannot hide his emotions. “If they joined the IS as we heard, then we won’t want them back,” said the 73-year old. “But if they are trapped, we will make all efforts to rescue them.”

His son Dr K. Ijas, 31, dentist wife Refila, 2-year old kid, Ijas’s younger brother Shiyas and his wife Ajmala are among the missing. “I suspect that someone had trapped them,” Mr Abdurahman told media persons.

Dr Ijas had worked with a government hospital near Vadakara and is quite in nature. His cousin Ashfak Majeed, Majeed’s wife and their 8-month old kid, too, are missing.

Abdul Hakeem, the father of T.K Hafesuddin, too, opined that if the IS news was true, he does not want to see his son again. “I cannot accept a son who worked against the country and the religion,” he said. Hafesuddin was taught in the Middle East and later continued education in Mumbai and Kasargod but did not complete his studies. He left the house a month back saying that he was going to Kozhikode to renew his passport.

Abdul Rashad Abdulla, who is in the 14-member missing team, had a long stint in Oman and married Sony Sebastian, a software engineer from central Kerala. Sony converted to Islam to become Ayisha after marriage.
