TRS woos Lingayats in Narayankhed

The TRS is leaving no stone unturned to win the Narayankhed bypoll.

Hyderabad: The TRS is leaving no stone unturned to win the Narayankhed bypoll. After wooing the various communities, the party is now playing the Lingayat card and has begun implementing the promises made Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Basaveshwara Jayanti on April 21 last year.

The constituency has about 30,000-odd Lingayat voters, and to win them over, irrigation minister T. Harish Rao, on the request of party’s Zaheerabad MP B.B. Patil and Narayankhed candidate Bhupal Reddy took up pending issues with the CM, it’s learnt. Following this, the CM promptly issued orders for installation of a Basaveshwara statue on the Tank Bund and asked officials to identify the suitable site.

It is also learnt that the CM also told officials to identify a one-acre plot in Banjara Hills or in the vicinity for the Basava Bhavan for which Rs 5 crore had been sanctioned. The CM had announced these sops to Veerashaiva Lingayat community on the request of Mr Patil last year. The CM keeps his promises. KCR’s welfare and developmental schemes will ensure a big win for the party. We are going to win by a thumping majority,” asserted Mr Harish Rao. Blaming the Opposition for backwardness of the constituency during the last 60 years, he said the TRS would undo the damage and ensure rapid development if Mr Bhupal Reddy was elected.
