Chennai: Tamil Nadu police on Tuesday booked nine Ukrainian nationals, including 3 women, for allegedly capturing videos and pictures of Thiruvannamalai temple using a drone.
The police seized the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and had detained the foreigners for questioning as using drones without police permission is illegal in Tamil Nadu.
“They were let off after paying a fine,” the police said. A police official said that flying unmanned aerial vehicle without permission is illegal.
He said “people who fly UAV in India must get a ‘no objection certificate’ from the local police”.
