KOCHI: The state police have taken elaborate steps to prevent any eruption of violence as the Supreme Court is expected to deliver its verdict in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir case on Saturday.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has sent an advisory to all states and Union Territories to remain alert and deploy adequate security personnel in all sensitive places to avoid any untoward incidents.

In Kochi, IGP and City Police Commissioner Vijay Sakhare said that the entire police commissionerate has been mobilised and that around 3,000 police personnel have been detailed for special duty.

“Elaborate plans have been made to deal with any violence or contingency. Riot gear and other equipment required to maintain law and order are ready and the forces are fully prepared for any eventuality,” the commissioner said.

The potential troublemakers have been identified and quick action will be launched in an emergency.

“Influential people in the communities have been notified for maintaining peace. The sensitive localities have been identified and we have already put those locations under surveillance,” he said.

Besides, the Kochi Police Cyberdome, which began its operations recently, will be used to track down people who spread hate messages through the social media platforms.
