Farmer starts online petition demanding concrete road

Pagare said that they have been demanding a concrete road for the past 10 years but no heed has been paid by the district administration.

Nashik: A farmer from Malegaon district has reached out for public support through an online petition on portal Change.org for construction of a concrete road in his village.

Anand Pagare of Sayne Budruk village has started the petition last month in support of his appeal to Nashik collector and district Zilla Parishad CEO to construct a road in the village which will facilitate children to go to school.

Pagare on Thursday said that they have been demanding a concrete road for the past 10 years now but no heed has been paid by the district administration. "For the past 10 years, we have been running from pillar to post for a 'pucca' road. Over 100 school-going children and nearly 2000 farmers, labourers of my village and neighbouring villages are dependent on a poorly maintained kutcha road for commuting to the outside world," he said.

He said children face extreme difficulty in travelling to the nearby school, crossing the 6-km stretch of kutcha road. The petition has attracted widespread support with 500 people signing it.

"Year after year, only a small portion of the road is constructed and then the work stops. Due to poor quality, it soon gets damaged, causing severe problems for villagers," added Pagare.
