CPM blames section of media' over Binoy Kodiyeri issue

It will be placed for approval before the state committee meeting to be held here from Monday.

Thiruvananthapuram: The two-day CPM state secretariat meeting began at the AKG Centre here on Thursday. The draft political organisational report to be presented at the state conference beginning in Thrissur from February 22 will be discussed in detail and finalised. It will be placed for approval before the state committee meeting to be held here from Monday. The secretariat is also reviewing the district conferences which concluded with the Thiruvananthapuram meet on February 5. The meeting is taking place in the presence of politburo members S. Ramachandran Pillai and M.A. Baby.

The secretariat meeting is taking place close on the heels Dubai court slapping a travel ban against state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's son Binoy in connection with a cheating case. The previous state secretariat meeting held in two sessions on January 25 to discuss the issue, had come out with a detailed statement denying the allegations against Mr Binoy and Mr Balakrishanan.

The secretariat had claimed that the allegations levelled by a section of media against Mr Balakrishanan and his son Binoy had been found to be totally baseless and untrue. It accused the media of using financial dispute between two parties as a stick to beat the CPM. However, the CPM argument was proven wrong after the Dubai court imposed travel ban against Mr Binoy on February 1 directing him to pay 1.74 crore to the Dubai tourist agency. The leadership now wants the matter to be settled at the earliest, at least before the start of the state conference.
