Sasikala Pushpa plea on Jayalalithaa death goes to vigilance

The MP had even filed a case in the Supreme Court demanding a CBI probe.

Chennai: The Union Home Ministry has referred to the Department of Personnel and Training for “appropriate action” on a petition it received from rebel AIADMK MP Sasikala Pushpa seeking CBI probe into the death of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.

In an official communication, a copy of which was released to the media by Mrs Pushpa, Mani Ram, Under Secretary with the Ministry of Home Affairs, referred the complaint filed by the Rajya Sabha MP to the Joint Secretary (Vigilance), Department of Personnel and Training.

“As the matter concerns Department of Personnel and Training (being an administrative authority of CBI), DOPT is requested to take appropriate action in the matter. The action taken may please be conveyed directly to Smt. Sasikala Pushpa, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha),” the letter by Mr Ram says.

In her petition submitted to the Union Home Ministry on December 19, Mrs Pushpa had demanded a CBI inquiry into the “mysterious death” of former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa.

The MP had even filed a case in the Supreme Court demanding a CBI probe. The apex court had in fact threatened to impose cost if she persisted with their efforts.
