Modi roared and all because teleprompters did the job!

Not many in the audience knew that Prime Minister was using a teleprompter, as he had done during his address to the US Congress.

Bengaluru: Known for his rhetorical flourish, PM =Narendra Modi's speeches always draw applauses.

And at the second day of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2017, it was no different. The venue hall, which had thousands of people across the globe, was listening to him in rapt attention and Mr Modi appeared to have on his finger tips all key statistics about important schemes.

Not many in the audience knew that the PM was apparently using a teleprompter, as he had done during his address to the US Congress last June.

There were teleprompters on either side of the dias. It consists of two mirrors that are transparent. Each one is mounted on a small stand with each mirror set at a 45-degree angle.

While the audience will only be able to see the two transparent mirrors, the speaker will be able to see smooth scrolling text on the mirrors. Based on the speed of the speaker, the text is fed into the mirror.

Though he prefers to deliver his speeches in Hindi, but here he switched between English and Hindi. To understand his Hindi address, audiences were provided devices to translate it into English, French and Portuguese.

The speech lasted nearly 40 minutes, without any small interruption. Modi easily read from the mirror, switching his views from the mirrors placed on his left and right side.
