Hyderabad: Professor Tirupathi Rao visit schools to get fee hike details

In the coming weeks, Prof. Rao is expected to visit schools in various districts to submit a report on the fee hike.

Hyderabad: Professor Tirupathi Rao, heading the committee on schools, visited nearly 15 schools in Greater Hyderabad — Chirec, Indus World, Delhi School of Excellence, Future Kids and others.

In the coming weeks, Professor Rao is expected to visit schools in various districts to submit a report on the fee hike which has been pending for the past eight months.

The school education department had earlier announced that they would release the list of schools visited, however, no details have been disclosed by the committee so far, alleged the Hyderabad Schools’ Parents Associations (HSPA).

The purpose of the visit is not at all clear as no specific records are being checked or the data sought, allege the parents.

Ashish Naredi, a member of the Hyderabad Schools’ Parents’ Association said, “The purpose of the visit is not clear and the most concrete aspect noted, if at all, a check of various infrastructure and facilities available at the school and rudimentary comparison with the fees charged. Token visits of the kind being done by the Prof. Rao committee are nothing but an eyewash to show that some works are being done while actually not doing anything much’’.

“These are just means of delaying the report further. It may be noted that the committee never gave any substantial plan of action. It is working in an extremely ad hoc manner and new aspects like the present school visits, for instance, are done only when HSPA asks about the reasons for the delay and only after the deadline is over’’.

K. Venkat, another member of HSPA said, “During the visits some of these school managements are said to have lined up a section of parents selected by them to speak to Professor Tirupathi Rao and say that they have no problem with any amount of fees charged by the school as the quality of education being provided is of a high standard. If the schools want to give a true picture of the parent feedback then they can have Parent Teacher Associations constituted and the elected members can give an honest feedback.’’
