SAD is shutting schools, taking their buses for rally: AAP

Around 19 schools were ordered to shutdown in Ludhiana and the same orders ware also sent to other districts of the state, AAP alleged.

Chandigarh: The AAP on Thursday criticised the Punjab government for allegedly forcing private schools in the state to shutdown and provide their buses to organisers of a SAD rally in Moga.

Accusing the SAD-led state government of misusing the state machinery for a party rally, AAP state convener Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi said, "The party has stooped so low that they have started harassing school children for their convenience."

"It is on record that District Education Officers sent order letters to schools to shutdown on the rally day and provide buses to ferry people to the venue on directions of Deputy Commissioners concerned," he said.

Ghuggi alleged the lie of Punjab Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema that he was not aware of any such order has been exposed.

"As per reports around 19 schools were ordered to shutdown in Ludhiana and the same orders ware also sent to other districts of the state," he claimed, adding the government is "preventing students from studying".

The government boasts of opening new schools and improving the state's education system but the reality is that they have politicised the most sacred profession, he alleged.

"The Union HRD Ministry must take note of the issue and seek an explanation from the Punjab government," the AAP leader said.

He demanded that the Punjab and Haryana High Court must take suo moto cognisance of the matter and take action against the Punjab government and state education department for creating hindrance in working of schools.
