Kochi Metro Rail Ltd SPV of water project

The Cabinet meeting gave in-principle nod on Wednesday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet on Wednesday appointed Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) as the Special Purpose Vehicle for implementing Integrated Urban Regeneration and Water Transport System scheme with the help of KIFFB.

The Cabinet meeting gave in-principle nod on Wednesday. The project envisages the integration of all canals in Kochi city. Edapally canal, Market canal, Thevara canal, Thevara Perandoor canal and Chilavannoor Thodu will be revived to provide better transportation facilities to the people of Kochi.

The Cabinet decided to grant Rs 2.04 crore from the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) for the maintenance of 458 fish workers' houses which were partially damaged in Ockhi cyclone.

The Cabinet approved the Roads and Bridges Development Corporation application for accepting Rs 13.68 crore tender for the construction of Edappal flyover along the Thrissur- Kuttipuram state highway.

The term of adhoc committee constituted to perform the duties of Senate and Syndicate of Calicut University has been extended to 18 months. The ordinance concerning this would be re-promulgated.
