Telangana forms tribunal for municipal cases

Aim is to help state act faster on encroachments.

Hyderabad: The Telangana state Cabinet on Friday app-roved the reorganisation of districts by adding some more to the already-approved list of 27.

“The Cabinet has approved issuing an ordinance in this regard,” said Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari. The Cabinet took 15 decisions in all.

Depending on the number of districts, he said the Cabinet in principal approved the requirement of collectors, joint collectors, superintendents of police, and DIGs among others. They will start functioning from October 11, Dasara.

The Cabinet also approved setting up of a municipal tribunal to deal with cases of encroachment of nalas and other municipal related cases. “The recent rain havoc caused immense damage to life and property. Encroachment of nalas is a primary cause. When the government tried to remove encroachments, some obtained stay orders from courts. Instead of courts, we decided to set up the tribunal to deal with such cases,” he said. The Cabinet also deci-ded to set up a Backward Classes Commission to deal with inclusion and exclusion of various castes.

Stating that there was good response to residential schools and colleges for SC, STs, BCs and Minorities, he said the Cabinet had decided to set up 119 Gurukul schools for BCs.
