Telangana: 'Legend Constructions' fined Rs 10 lakh for damages

Hyderabad: A criminal complaint has been filed against Legend Constructions, which is building residential flats at Road No. 14, Banjara Hills, for discharging water on to the main road and damaging the infrastructure.

It has also been fined Rs 10 lakh, the highest fine imposed by the corporation. Construction material and pumps that were flushing out water have also been seized. The corporation has also barred the builder from further construction.

Mayor warns builders against illegal acts
The complainant was Hyderabad Mayor, Bonthu Rammohan. While commuting through Road No: 14 in Banjara Hills, he saw workers discharging water on to the road late at night. Circle town planning and engineering officers were directed to inspect and take action.

During the inspection, it was found that the builders were constructing ground plus four floors with two cellars, approved by the GHMC.

Water had accumulated in the cellars and in order to clear this, the workers discharged the water on to the main road which damaged a road. The road had been repaired only recently at a cost of Rs 8 lakh.

Considering who the complainant was, the GHMC booked a criminal case against the builders and took other strong actions.

The Hyderabad mayor has warned builders, especially those releasing water on to main roads, that action will be taken against them, including booking of criminal cases.
