Centre plans lessons on phones

Smriti Irani said that nearly 1,000 courses of UG and PG will be made available on a mobile app.

Vijayawada: Union HRD minister Smriti Irani said that nearly 1,000 courses of UG and PG will be made available on a mobile app. She was taking part in an interactive session with college students here on Tuesday. She said technology would help students pursue all the courses, in addition to their educational institutions.

She said the HRD ministry has taken several steps to adopt best practices from various foreign universities like Cambridge, Stanford and Pennsylvania. “The ministry is also engaging teaching experts from these universities and said the students need not pay extra for classes by the foreign professors.” Reacting to a question, she felt more happy when she gave birth to a baby girl than even bagging six awards for her acting in television serials. She said challenges are very common in politics and for women, it is much more. “One should overcome challenges with grit and determination,” she said.

Replying to a query on the delay in according special status, she said the Centre would fulfil all the wishes of people in AP. She said the HRD ministry allotted nine institutions, out of the 11 promised, and that all of them have started functioning in AP.
