Krishnaswamy's body reaches home

Tiruvapur: The body of Krishnaswamy who died of heart attack when he accompanied his son Kasthuri Mahalingam to write the Neet examination at Ernakulam on Sunday, was brought to his native place Vilakkudi near Thiruthuraipoondi in Tiruvarur district by a team of Revenue and Police officials in the wee hours of Monday.

The president of the 'Tamilaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK), Mr. Velmurugan who paid homage to Krishnaswamy, told newsmen the Central and Tamil Nadu Government should find a solution to the issue and asked the Central Government how many more lives need to be lost before it exempted Tamil Nadu from the purview of NEET for medical college admissions.

The DMK MP Ms. Kanimozhi placed a wreath on the body of Krishnaswamy and consoled his family members. She later told newsmen that if the DMK came to power in the State, it will try to abolish Neet. The only answer for all such ills is Education should be brought back to the state list, she said.

The Tamil Maanila Congress president, G.K. Vasan, told newsmen after paying homage to Krishnaswamy that the Central government's failure to respect the sentiments of students and their parents in the Neet issue, was condemnable.

There was utter confusion right from the beginning till the exam day on Sunday. "The CBSE has no practical approach and this is a clear example that the Centre had no clear idea about such a sensitive issue," Vasan added.

Among others, former CPI (M) state secretary, G. Ramkakrishnan and large number of villagers in and around Vilakkudi paid their last respects to Krishnaswamy.
