KJ Alphons behaved arbitrarily, says CM Pinarayi Vijayan

In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr Vijayan said he took it up with him directly because Mr Alphons' action impinged on Federal ties.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has protested against Union Minister of State for Tourism, Mr K. J. Alphons, for arbitrarily fixing February 10 for the inauguration of Sree Narayana Guru spiritual tourism circuit at Sivagiri and entrusting India Tourism Development Corporation, instead of KTDC, with the execution of the project.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr Vijayan said he took it up with him directly because Mr Alphons’ action impinged on Federal ties. This should not be allowed to become a precedent, said Mr Vijayan.

He pointed out that the detailed project report for the circuit was submitted by the state government, which was not consulted on the choice of the executing agency. Also, it is unacceptable that the minister merely informed the state government of the inauguration date without consulting it in advance, Mr Vijayan said.
