Kakinada: Brahmin front to become political party

He lamented that the political parties have been insulting the community and not giving importance to the members.

Kakinada: A new political outfit, Rashtriya Brahmin Front (RBF), is coming up on the lines of MIM. It claims to protect the Brahmin community from insult, harassment and also help it gain political importance in the nation.

A group of Brahmins had come out from the ‘Rashtriya Brahmin Sangathan’, the community organisation affiliated to Telugu Desam, and formed the RBF, led by Telugu Desam leader in Kadapa district K.Sainath Sarma.

Vexed with the functioning of RBS and non-importance given to the community by the TD government, a group of Brahmins disconnected with the RBS and formed the new organisation.

Mr Sarma, who participated in a community meeting, held at Karapa village, 10 km from Kakinada in East Godavari on Thursday, told that RBF would be registered as a political party with the Election Commission soon and that it would be elevated as national party, adding the Brahmin community across the country.

“Muslims can raise their voice through the MIM to protect their rights but the Brahmin community is not able to raise their voice promptly politically or community-wise in the society,” Mr Sarma said.

He lamented that the political parties have been insulting the community and not giving importance to the members.

He said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had done nothing for the community, except setting up the Brahmin Corporation and giving membership of Tirumula Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD) to Dokka Nathababu.

“There are 9 lakh Muslim votes and can have influence on the polls in 9-10 constituencies in AP. Comparitively, there are 10 lakh Brahmin votes and can influence the polls in 110 constituencies in the state. But, the community is not being given political importance,” he lamented.

He said that the Front would not oppose either the ruling Telugu Desam or Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu, but the Front asks for due political respect and to gain a place in the community. Unless the party or the Chief Minister gives proper response, the community would take its on decision during the elections.

Brahmin Corporation District-Level Officer D.H.Sambasiva Rao said that Sainath Sarma is a strong TD activist and he was elected as a Single Window Chairman in the state, on behalf of Telugu Desam, during the Congress regime. He said that the Congress Government, during the period of late Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, booked criminal cases against Sainatha Sarma on the charges of making a conspiracy to kill Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy 10 years ago. However, Sarma has been fighting for the community as well as the society in Kamalapuram constituency in Kadapa District.
