K T Rama Rao wants net access across Telangana by December '18

Hyderabad: IT Minister K.T.Rama Rao has directed officials to ensure internet connectivity to every household in state, through Telangana Fibregrid project, by next December. Mr Rao said education and healthcare sectors in rural areas is expected to improve drastically with access to broadband connectivity.

In a review meeting held here on Wednesday, officials briefed him about the Centre's grant under BharatNet scheme that aims to provide broadband connectivity to all houses in rural areas. The minister said four villages in Maheshwaram mandal had been selected for technology demonstration for locals to see for themselves numerous advantages of new technology. Houses in these villages will get broadband connection by January 2018.

Mr. Rao also enquired about the progress of T-Hub 2, Image Tower and T Works projects. He instructed officials to prepare designs for T Works and complete the construction by May-end.

The minister sought information about land acquisition in Pharma City project and environmental clearances from Centre for it.
