Bengaluru: Following the demand from a number students across courses and a recent high court directive, the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences has decided to reintroduce a fifth round of evaluation for postgraduate medical, dental and Ayurveda examinations.
Officials said the decision was approved in the recent syndicate meeting and will be implemented for the odd-semester examinations starting this month. “The exams held for PG courses, excluding those of the medical batches at present, will be evaluated according to the new decision.
The answer scripts will now undergo four rounds of independent evaluation and the highest mark will be considered as the final score. The answer script will be sent for the fifth round only if a difference of 15% or more is observed between each evaluation,” said the official. Until now, the average of all four scores was computed.
RGUHS introduced the digital evaluation system three years ago, before which the fifth evaluation system was in place. “Four rounds of digital evaluation – two internal (from within state) and two external – will continue as it contributes to a more transparent and faster way of publishing results. We had received complaints from students about problems in digital evaluation as some of the results were withheld last year because of confusion in the process. The university had asked the vendor who was handling the software for digital evaluation to improve the efficiency at many instances, but they failed to do so,” said a syndicate member.
