Telangana, Andhra Pradesh governments get HC notice on Abhaya

The petitioner association urged the court to direct the authorities to conduct an in-depth investigation.

Hyderabad: The High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments and management of Abhaya Gold, on a plea seeking repayment to the depositors concerned.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice U. Durga Prasad Rao was dealing with a PIL by Abhaya Gold Customers and Agents Welfare Association seeking CBI probe into the Abhaya Gold scam and to punish the culprits responsible for cheating the depositors. The petitioner association urged the court to direct the authorities to conduct an in-depth investigation on the lines of Sharada and Sahara scams and to appoint an expert committee to assess the assets and liabilities of Sri Abhaya Gold Infratech India and Sri Abhaya Realcon India and to sell their properties for repayment to depositors.
