The CM has also agreed to spend Rs 100 crore towards development of Old Town road after the widening process.

Anantapur: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has given his nod for widening of road at Old Town in Anantapur during a meeting with party leaders at Vijayawada on Wednesday.

Party sources said that the ongoing dispute between the Anantapur MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy and Urban MLA V. Prabhakar Chowdary over road widening in Old Town was settled at the meeting. The CM has also agreed to spend Rs 100 crore towards development of Old Town road after the widening process.

There have been differences between the MP Diwakar Reddy and MLA Prabhakar Chowdary for the past few months and party had split in Anantapur headquarters. Mr Diwakar Reddy and his brother J.C.Prabhakar Reddy along with their group corporators were demanding for widening of the congested roads at Tilak Nagar and Gandhi Bazaar of Old Town.

But, the Urban MLA Prabhakar Chowdary and Mayor M. Swaroopa were opposing the proposal and a resolution was also passed in the Anantapur Municipal Corporation (AMC) meeting against widening process. MP Diwakar Reddy and his brother Tadipatri MLA J.C.Prabahkar Reddy had also staged a rally in the Old Town seeking cooperation for the roads widening.

On Wednesday, the CM had a meeting with both the groups and settled the issue. About 5 ft of road widening was proposed at Tilak Nagar and Gandhi Bazaar areas during the meeting. The CM also directed cadre not to send negative signals to public.
