Rahu-Ketu puja begins at Kanakadurga temple

Rahu-Ketu puja was performed, for the first time, at Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri here on Wednesday.

Vijayawada: Rahu-Ketu puja was performed, for the first time, at Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri here on Wednesday. Collector B. Lakshmikan-tam and his wife, city police commissioner Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, municipal commissioner J. Nivas’wife participated in the new arjita seva that will be performed henceforth at the temple.

On the first day, the Rahu-Ketu puja was performed after worshipping Lord Ganesha, to invoke his blessings in continuing with the new arjita seva.
Temple executive officer V. Koteswaramma and Temple Trust Board chairman Y. Gourangababu were present at the temple from 9-9.30 AM. Later, a Yagam was performed by the temple priests for the Panchaloha Sodhana.

Temple EO Koteswar-amma said, “For three days, trial run of Rahu-Ketu puja will be performed. “Tickets for the Rahu-Ketu puja are priced at Rs 1,116. Two persons will be allowed for the puja and mukhamandapa darshan,” she said.

She further said, “this will help the devotees perform Rahu-Ketu puja at the Durga temple. Goddess Durga is the ruler of Rahu.” Further, she said that the place beside Lord Sri Nataraja Swami temple was allotted for “Rahu-Ketu” puja.

Temple Board members Dharmarao, Vallipapa, Padmashekar, Samaba Suseela, and chief priest couple also performed the Rahu-Ketu puja under the supervision of more than 15 archakas of the Durga temple.
