Hyderabad: PVNR Expressway gets Rs 13 crore for repairs

HMDA has floated tenders for the proposed repairs and work would commence from the third week of February.

Hyderabad: The HMDA has decided to take up the first-ever repairs on the PVNR Expressway a decade after its inauguration in 2009, at an estimated cost of Rs 12.80 crore.

It had come to the notice of municipal administration principal secretary Arvind Kumar that the 11.6-km elevated road was damaged. This speed had been reduced from 80 kmph to 35 kph due to potholes, span expansions and craters.

The HMDA has floated tenders for the proposed repairs and work would commence from the third week of February. A HMDA official said that urban body would take up the restoration of spans and milling to lay the road afresh apart from filling potholes.

The HMDA has also decided to install 1,346 LED streetlights covering the carriageway under the structure. There will be one LED light on each pillar and one in between two pillars.

There will be additional lights at U-turns and emphasis is being laid on illumination at the bridge.
