Tanzanian girl assualt: Sudanese student's visa had expired

Ahmed was staying illegally in Bengaluru after he had overshot his visa, which had expired on December 31, 2015.

BENGALURU: The visa of the Sudanese student, Mohammed Ahmed Ismail, whose car allegedly mowed down a local resident Shabana Taj in Ganapathipura, near Hesaraghatta Main Road on January 31, had expired, said sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Ahmed was staying illegally in Bengaluru after he had overshot his visa, which had expired on December 31, 2015.

“Ahmed was issued a notice by the local police along with 750 other foreign students in Bengaluru in mid-January to leave the country immediately as their visas had expired. He should have applied for visa extension latest by November last year as per the visa rules, but he didn’t approach the Foreigner Regional Registration Office even after his visa had expired,” said an official source.
